Botox® is the commonly used name for the neurotoxic protein called botulinum toxin, which is derived from a type of bacteria known as a clostridium botulinum.

By using facial muscles repeatedly throughout a lifetime, the skin is creased in areas of greater use. Botox® blocks nerve impulses to the muscles in the target areas and the muscles are temporarily relaxed. This leads to a smoother , more youthful appearance. When injected into the underarm skin, it reduces sweat production.
